Compilation album of the wave of “alternative” Afrikaans music that swept the country in 1988/9. Apart from André Letoit and the Gereformeerde Blues Band, this album featured such talents as The Genuines, Koos, The Kêrels, Khaki Monitor, Randy Rambo and Pieter vd Lugt.

They were labeled hooligans and devil worshipers by the Afrikaans establishment, celebrated as liberators by Afrikaans youth.

The nationwide “Voëlvry Toer” was banned from almost every Afrikaans university campus. Why? Because they were young Afrikaners who stood up and stated through their music their rejection of the legacy bequeathed to them by their forebears.
